May Community Work Day!

E hele mai kākou! Please join us for our next monthly work day. On May 4th, we will be hosting a work day for the community from 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM. Feel free to also join us for an optional potluck from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM followed by a lāʻau lapaʻau workshop. We will be working with the ʻāina and learning about lāʻau lapaʻau (Hawaiian medicinal herbs). All of the information is attached in the flyer (below), please contact us if you have any questions. If you have any community service requirements that need to be fulfilled, we will be honored to sign-off on your hours.

STEM and Hawaiian Studies Summer Bridge

The pre-college experience is an intensive six-week program for recent high school graduates to explore careers while earning college credit. Participants work with professionals in an atmosphere supported by peer-mentoring, developing a connectivity from mauka to makai through active engagement of learning-by-doing

Mission Statement

   The purpose of the Program is to perpetuate cultural knowledge and values, support an interest in scientific endeavor, and increase long-term student success rates in academic and career pathways, and build broad community support for students and the program.

 

   Project ʻOlonā year 2018-2019 is a multidisciplinary, collaborative effort of students at Kapi`olani Community College (KCC) STEM program, the Nursing Pathway program at Windward Community College (WCC), and John A. Burns School of Medicine (JABSOM), to build on and expand the levels of  research for Kapi`olani Community College students who have conducted research on traditional medicinal plants.
