        - Nīoi is a plant with Capsaicin and Dihydrocapsaicin,                             commonly used for spices

        - The hard wood of Nioi was made into kapa beaters

 

Medicinal Use:

        - It can also be used to treat arthritis and rheumatism.

        - Used topically for body aches and pain

        - As well as a cleaner for digestive systems.

        - Also used to treat Skin diseases, scrofulous sores, asthma,                 bad blood

 

Environment:

        - Can be found on the islands of Maui, Moloka'i, O'ahu, &                     Kaua'i

        - Dry enviroments
